Top marks for business event promoting Finnish agrotechnology companies in Poland

A successful business event organised by Business Finland’s Agrotechnology from Finland program and the Finland Trade Center in Warsaw on 7-8 March 2018 resulted in more than 30 direct meetings between internationalizing Finnish companies and Polish resellers, distributors and other industry stakeholders. The visit also included a seminar with presentations by both the Finnish and Polish parties, a reception at the Finnish embassy and a media event that brought wide press coverage for the Finnish companies (examples below).

Showcasing high-quality Finnish agrotechnology solutions that can boost productivity in Poland’s vast agricultural sector, the event also created new business opportunities for Polish distributors. The business event has received excellent feedback from the participating companies Antti Teollisuus Oy, Demeca, Farmtools, Figen Ltd, JPT-Industria, and Metallipalvelu Hartikainen.

Targeting the right contacts

Swine genetics supplier Figen Ltd has already made some offers to its new Polish contacts following the event, according to the company's Export Manager Johanna Kylä-Lassila.

"Figen is very pleased with the business event to Poland. We had five business meetings in total and they were well organised – we made exactly the kind of contacts that we were hoping for. Figen also attracted attention at the media event and the expert seminar was very informative. Business Finland did a good job in organising all the events and meetings," says Kylä-Lassila.

"Poland is an interesting market for Figen because there are many pig farms of different sizes and the producers are getting a good price for the meat. The Polish customers know what they want and logistically Poland is very convenient for us."

Polish market has great potential

"These kinds of well-organised business events are essential for the internationalization of small and medium-sized companies. We had good meetings with organizations in Poland, including a television interview, and this kind of visibility greatly grows awareness about the company," says Ari Kuhalampi, Sales Director, MPH Products.

"The Polish market is one of the biggest in Europe and has great potential. There are many large-scale farms and big contractors in the market and for them the productivity and durability of the equipment is very important, which can be the market entry point for our products. We had four good meetings with Polish resellers who were looking to broaden their product repertoire, and these discussions are now continuing."

Dedicated groundwork brings results

"Establishing direct contact with the right business partners is a crucial step when Finnish agrotechnology companies enter new markets. The success of the event in Poland was based on very professional preparation work, including accurate mapping of the potential business partners and sparring the sales presentations of the Finnish companies," says Elina Puszkarzewicz, Business Finland, Program Director, Agrotechnology from Finland.
